How Thirsty are you

Exa“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1 (ESV)

Each of us has experienced being thirsty.  When we are truly thirsty there are not many things that will satisfy and quench our thirst like good old fashion water.  Water satisfies our thirst like nothing else can.  Once we have tasted the water, we feel like refreshed and can continue what it is we are doing, but until we quench our thirst there is not much we can do.

There are times when we are not just physically thirsty, but we also become spiritually thirsty.  Just like water is what we need when we are physically thirsty, we need the refreshing that can only come from The Lord when we are suffering spiritual thirst.

The Scripture reminds us that, O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.  I encourage you today to seek The Lord when your soul is thirsty.  Seek the One who can quench your thirst as you go throughout your day and find yourself in parched places.

When you are parched the only thing that will revive you is seeking the refreshing that can only come from The Lord.  When you are parched spiritually you are weary, and do not feel like you can go on anymore, but The Lord will quench your thirst and give you what you need to continue to strive to be in the place that He has just for you.  There will be times in your life when you just feel dry and empty, that is the time to seek The Lord.  Early in the morning I will seek The Lord for I know He will refresh me and quench my thirsty soul and give me strength to make it through a dry land.

Lord, my soul thirsts for you.  When the world has sapped all my strength, I know that I can find my refreshing in you.  Thank you Lord, for being my God and quencher of my every thirst.  I love you Lord.  In Jesus Name Amen.
